WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? SUGARING VS. WAXING

We are very excited that we are now offering Sugaring & Waxing at Salon Society – but how do they work, and what’s the difference? Let's find out!

What is Sugaring?

  • Natural organic mixture made from sugar, water, and lemon
  • Applied at room temperature 
  • Sugaring paste is molded onto the skin and removed, bringing the hair with it; this can be done with either balled sugar paste or paste + strips, similar to traditional waxing. 
  • Several passes can be made over the same area to remove all unwanted hair
  • Minimal irritation - good for those with sensitive or allergies 
  • Hair should be ¼ to ½ inch in length = the length of a grain of rice 

What is Waxing?

  • A classic tried and true hair removal method 
  • Uses heated wax + strips to remove hair from body 
  • Safe and effective 
  • Quickly and efficiently removes hair from large areas at once
  • This application can only be applied once to each area - if any hair remains, tweezers are used to remove it 
  • Smooth result as it removes hair from the root
  • Moderate irritation 
  • Hair should be ¼ to ½ inch in length = the length of a grain of rice

Waxing and sugaring differ mainly in the mixtures' ingredients. The sugaring process is also done at room temperature, while waxing tends to be hot, thus the term 'hot wax'.

And that’s all there is to it - the rest comes down to preference!
